KEVIN WILSON

Powerballers Hitting Liaison

  • Kevin Wilson is regarded by many as one of the most respected hitting coaches in the game. The select group of hitters who choose to work with him find comfort in knowing that he puts their career first. He takes pride in making sure that every hitter is treated as an individual. He has the unique ability to speak the player’s language and translate information from other coaches, teams and organizations. 

  • For over 19 years, Kevin Wilson has been one of the most sought after hitting consultants in the game. Kevin currently works with Minor and Major League players from 20 different MLB organizations.

  • In 2013, Kevin was the hitting coach for the USA Baseball 18U National Team. Team USA beat Japan for the Gold medal at the IBAF World Cup in Taichung, Taiwan. Under his guidance, outfielder Adam Haseley (Philadelphia Phillies) was named the 2013 IBAF World Cup Batting Champion.

JONATHAN MAY

Powerballers Athletic Trainer

  • JON MAY, MS, ATC, CSCS, PES, CES, CSS, Pn1, Strength & Conditioning Coach

  • Born: Louisville, KY… Resides: Mount Laurel, NJ… 17 years as a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), 15 years within the game of baseball, 13 seasons with the Phillies organization most recently Clearwater (A, 2019) after spending four years with Lehigh Valley (AAA, 2015-18). Also, worked three years with Reading (AA, 2012-14), one year with Lakewood (Low-A, 2011), three years with Williamsport (A, 2008-10), and one year with the Gulf Coast League Phillies (R, 2007). Prior to joining the Phillies, he spent two years (2005-06) as the athletic trainer for the Camden Riversharks of the independent Atlantic League. Obtained his BS in kinesiology from Temple University in 2002 and completed MS in exercise science and health promotion at California University of Pennsylvania in 2019. Currently working as an ATC for Nemours-Deptford, NJ Therapy Services working with pediatric patients. In addition, he provides training services for the general population.

  • Jon believes “An athlete’s best ability is their availability.” This drives his passion for helping athletes stay healthy, improve strength, and resiliency to ultimately be put in the best position to perform on the field.  This is achieved by a thorough kinetic chain assessment with an appropriate and thoughtful program design that encompasses proper warm-up, mobility, strength/stability, power, endurance, agility, core work, and anaerobic/aerobic conditioning.

SCOTT SHUMAN
Pitching Coordinator

Pitching Coach

  • Scott Shuman, a veteran of 13 seasons of professional baseball, most recently has spent six seasons in the independent Atlantic League, racking up impressive numbers. A 2021 All Star selection is his latest accomplishment. 

  • 2021 All Star in the Atlantic League

  • During the last four years while pitching for the Lancaster Barnstormers, the Georgia native has accumulated a 12-5 record with 24 saves and a 2.13 ERA while amassing the 236 strikeouts in 169 innings of work

  • The Flame throwing right hander was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays our of Auburn University in 2009.  He spent four season with the Rays organization before moving to the San Francisco Giants in 2013, spending that you with Class AA Richmond. 

  • Scott still sits in the upper 90's range and has reached the 100 mph a few times in his career

  • Scott is looking to teach the younger generation how to develop the skills it takes to become a Professional Baseball Player.

  • A kinesiology major at Auburn, Shuman adjusted his own mechanics prior to his arrival in the Atlantic League in 2015 and went on to become an All-Star in the circuit, pitching against clubs made up of numerous players with Major League Experience.

  • In addition to his lengthy professional resume in the United States, Shuman has performed in the Mexican League toward the end of the 2018 summer as well as the Venezuelan and Australian Winter Leagues, gaining cultural knowledge as well as well as honing his craft on the mound.

  • When at home in Valdosta, Shuman has worked one on one in developing young players for the Five Star Sports.  The former Georgia all state pitcher and shortstop has specialized in creating individual plans to to teach fundamentals, refine mechanics and improve consistency while focusing on attainable goals.

DAVID WODZISZ

16U Head Coach

  • Dave has had a lifelong love for the game of baseball. He is a former Phillipsburg HS graduate and collegiate ball player for Moravian College, being a Captain on every team he has ever played on.

  • At Phillipsburg he was MVP, 1st team all conference and 1st all area in 2014. At Moravian he prided himself upon being a leader and utility player for whatever the team needed to win. In 2018 he posted a perfect fielding percentage.

  • Dave then took his passion for the game to helping coaches through his baseball brand Coach Crates. He talks baseball with coaches through his podcast Dugout Therapy and provides resources, training tools, and gear to their community through their subscription box.

  • 2002 Regensburg Legionaere: Signed contract with the Regensburg Legionaere of the Federal League South in German Professional Baseball League before an arm injury ended his playing career

  • 2016- PresentBob has been coaching in youth baseball for the past 5 years and through his passion for the game he has developed a competitive team that is ranked in the top 5 in the Travel baseball rankings.

  • •2017- Started in 12 of the 29 games he appeared in as a freshman…saw time in the outfield, at DH and as a pinch hitter…batted .250 with 13 hits and eight RBIs…picked up first collegiate hit and an RBI against Saint Louis (2/17)…went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI at Incarnate Word (2/19)…batted 2-for-4 and belted first collegiate homer against Holy Cross (4/29)…picked up a pair of hits in a win at La Salle (5/2).

  • •2018- Made 38 starts of his 41 appearances…ranked second on the team and inside the top 10 in the Patriot League with a .306 batting average…roped nine doubles and four homeruns to drive in 27 RBIs…ranked fifth in the Patriot League in slugging percentage at .463…went 4-for-5 at Navy with a double and two RBIs on 3/3.

  • •2019-Selected to the All-Patriot League First Team… named Patriot League Player of the Week (3/26)…started 50 games in the outfield…hit five home runs and nine doubles with a .273 batting average…drove in 44 runs, the most on the team…went 3-for-4 with one double and one home run, to hit a Patriot League era best eight RBI in the second game of the day at Lehigh (3/24)

  • •2020-Started 11 games for the Leopards in a season cut short by COVID-19…recorded five hits, two home runs, four RBIs and one stolen base in one attempt …was selected to the Patriot League All-League Preseason team...named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

  • Coach Kashner has pursued his passion for coaching over the past 25 years after his playing career ended

  • Hi is a 1994 graduate from Freedom High School, 1998  graduate of Saint Joseph's University and is in his 24th year as a Juvenile Probation Officer in Monroe County Pa

  • Wanderers Legion Baseball Coach: Assistant Coach (1995-2005)

  • East Stroudsburg High School : Assistant Boys Basketball Coach(199-2000)

  • East Stroudsburg North High School: Head Boys Basketball Coach(2000- 2003) He was named the first coach in the schools history and went 39-37 with 3 straight District playoffs while being named the 2000-2001 Coach of the Year by the the Pocono Record

  • Freedom High School: Varsity Assistant Basketball Coach (2003-2008) He served as the programs defensive Coordinator and was responsible for scouting and game plans

  • Liberty High School: Varsity Assistant Basketball Coach (2008-2011). He was an integral part of the program going 66-21 over his 3 years

  • Youth Coach- GLVA Football, Hurricanes Basketball & Lehigh Little League (2014- Present)

  • Lehigh Little League: Vice President, Player Agent, Equipment Manger (2019- Present)

  • Coached Lehigh's Major Divisions going 33-4 and winning 2021 District 20 Championship

  • He Brings a great amount of experience to the Powerballers with the energetic coaching style and the ability to connect with and lead youth athletes

MATT MCBRIDE

Catching / Hitting 

  • McBride was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the second round of the 2006 Major League Baseball draft. He made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut with the Colorado Rockies in 2012, with whom he played right field and first base.

  • Lehigh University HOFer

  • While at Lehigh University Matt is a career .350 hitter at the plate and accumulated 198 hits, 17 home runs, 56 doubles and 125 RBIs during his illustrious three-year career in a Lehigh uniform.
