End it with a bang

Our 12u Powerballers team finished up the season with an undefeated weekend and some championship hardware. Coach Grzenda and Coach Kashner did it again this weekend on finding the right recipe for success for the ballplayers.

Coach Grzenda when asked about how he feels about the tournament win knowing it was their last of the season. "Winning the final tournament of the year was really exciting for the boys! Their goal was to finish the fall by winning two of the last three tournaments. They went 4-1 at Sports at the Beach but lost in the championship game to a really strong Fielder’s Choice National team. They were determined to win BSE the following weekend and secured the #1 seed on Saturday but unfortunately were rained out on Sunday. That left this past weekend at Diamond Nation. They came in determined and executed at a high level both offensively and defensively to beat some really strong teams to win the championship and go 4-0 on the weekend. The boys worked hard over the past month and I think this was a culmination of their efforts. I was really proud of the boys for the work they put in as they were rewarded for their efforts and it certainly feels good to wrap up the 2021 season with a high quality tournament championship!"

We also asked him about his take on his overall experience this fall season "The biggest takeaway for me is that this is a really special group of young men. We played in 6 high quality tournaments for the fall. We finished 17-4 and three of the losses were one run games. Early on we identified some opportunities for growth as a team that we needed to improve as we added some new key members to the roster. Each practice I feel the boys worked hard and got better and better in those areas. I believe this was demonstrated by the way they played in October going 10-1. With the ways these boys compete, I am confident there is a really bright future ahead for these boys and for our local High School teams they will play for in the years ahead!"
